Born 1960; botanical, zoological, and ecological studies at Freie Universität Berlin. DAAD grant recipient, PhD in 1996. 1996 recipient of Glockner-Öko-Fonds grant awarded by Großglockner Hochalpenstraßen AG (Austria). 1997-1999 Laboratorium für Organographie und Blütenökologie, Den Haag-Sontra-Berlin. Since 2000 freelanced researcher in Berlin and research associate at the BGBM. Since 2001 associate lecturer at the Beuth Hochschule für Technik Berlin (University of Applied Sciences, Department of Life Sciences and Technology).

Theoretical and applied floral ecology
- Floral traits and reproductive strategies of phanerogams.
- Floral characters and sensory perception of pollinators.
- Pollination biology and flowering phenology of alpine plant communities in the Austrian Alps (Hohe Tauern National Park).
- Floral ecology and biodiversity of flower-pollinator systems in mountainous areas (Alps, Mediterranean region, Yemen, Scandinavia).
Urban ecology
- Pollination biology of plants in large cities.
- Flower-visiting insects in urban environments: floral resources,
nesting, and host-parasite-relationships.
Research projects:
- Documentation of pollination processes of alpine plant species by means of digital video.
- Anthecology of subalpine mountain meadows in the Alps with emphasis on floral mimicry in non-rewarding orchid species.
- Interdisciplinary monitoring project: floral and vegetational ecology of traditionally cultivated mountain hay meadows in the Hohe Tauern National Park (Carinthia, Austria).
- Pollination biology in
palaeo-African refugia in the southern coastal mountains of the southern Arabian Peninsula (Yemen).
