Botanisch relevante Webportale

  • Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) prototype internet data portal – "The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) is an international non-profit organisation to provide free and universal access to data regarding the world's biodiversity". The GBIF data portal, launched on 9 February 2004, "provides free and universal access to millions of scientific data records about plants, animals and micro-organisms, as well as the ability to map their distributions, search them by scientific or common name, or browse through them by taxonomy". The 'Tools and Services' section gives numerous valuable links.

  • Biological Collection Access Service for Europe (BioCASE) – "the new BioCASE Portal, providing access to the European biodiversity data in the GBIF system. It is complementary to the GBIF portal in that it provides more detailed information about specimen and observation data, especially when these are based on the rich ABCD standard".

  • Internet Directory for Botany (IDB) – Alphabetical List (Brach, A. R. & Liu, S. 1996- ).

  • The Mycology.net (Botanische Staatssammlung München);
    The WWW Virtual Library: Mycology (Kathie T. Hodge, Cornell University).

  • Links for Palaeobotanists – annotated links to internet resources, especially for palaeobotanists (with an Upper Triassic bias), compiled and maintained by Klaus-Peter Kelber, Mineralogisches Institut, Universität Würzburg.

  • Biodiversity and Biological Collections – "Devoted to information of interest to systematists and other biologists of the organismic kind. Within these pages you will find information about specimens in biological collections, taxonomic authority files, directories of biologists, the Delta system and links for hundreds of biodiversity and collection resources."

  • Intute: Natural History Gateway  – "A free online service providing you with access to the very best web resources for education and research, evaluated and selected by a network of subject specialists. Intute is created by a consortium of institutions within the UK post 16 educational field. This places us in a unique position at the heart of a network of academic excellence allowing us to pool expertise from which all may benefit".

  • Ecology WWW page: List of WWW Sites of Interest to Ecologists "As a service to students, teachers, researchers, and WWW surfers interested in ecology, this list was compiled by Anthony R. Brach (Missouri Botanical Garden & Harvard University Herbaria, U.S.A.). HTML format is created and maintained by Jean Thioulouse (University of Lyon, France)."

  • Tree of Life Web Project (ToL) "is a collaborative effort of biologists from around the world. On more than 5000 World Wide Web pages, the project provides information about the diversity of organisms on Earth, their evolutionary history (phylogeny), and characteristics."
