- Taxonomy, biogeography and ecology of vascular plants in the Mediterranean, in particular Campanuleae (Campanulaceae), Cisteae (Cistaceae), Pedicularieae (Orobanchaceae), Verbasceae (Scrophulariaceae).
- Plant biodiversity of Greece and the Aegean. Current: regional floras/annotated checklists of selected Aegean islands, the Central Peloponnese, Northwestern Epirus and Eastern Thessaly.
- Med-Checklist: a critical inventory of vascular plants of the circum-mediterranean countries (edited by Prof. W. Greuter, Berlin, et al.): Regional adviser (Greece) and co-editing the series Med-Checklist notulae (with Prof. W. Greuter, Berlin).
- Flora Hellenica (based at botanical institutions in Patras/Greece [UPA], Copenhagen/Denmark [C], Lund/Sweden [LD] and Berlin-Dahlem [B]).
