University, Utrecht, The Netherlands; 1976-1982: Research Associate at the Institute of
Systematic Botany in Utrecht; 1983: PhD degree at Utrecht State University, Utrecht, The
Netherlands; 1983-now: Curator of Lichens at the Botanischer Garten & Botanisches
Museum Berlin-Dahlem; from 1995-1998 also Deputy Curator of Bryophytes and
since September 1996 collaborator of the Department of Biodiversity Informatics and
Laboratories; retired January 2010.

- member of Comité de lecture Bulletin de la Société linnéenne de Provence, since

- Lichen flora of Colombia; a preliminary checklist is published.
- Lichen flora of the Guianas; currently in preparation are treatments of
Parmeliaceae and Cladonia,
the latter with T. Ahti, Helsinki (draft key available); also
available on server of Smithsonian Institution in Washington: key to genera and
checklist. Meeting in Berlin, August 2006
- Lichens of New Guinea, in collaboration with A. Aptroot (Soest, The Netherlands), E.
Sérusiaux (Liège, Belgium) and others); currently in preparation are treatments of
Graphidales.
