in Berlin.
A small number of low-cost guest-rooms are available on the garden
grounds. If you are
interested you should apply to the Director well in advance. Currently (prices
of 18 Feb. 2005) single rooms cost 31/day, for stays over 3 days 25/day, and
for stays over 14 days a monthly rate of 375 applies; for two-bed rooms the
tarif is 36, 30 and 450, respectively.
The guest-rooms are situated at the south-eastern end of the garden above the garden
office. Access is via the Wirtschaftshof gate. Guests should check in with the gate-keeper of the Wirtschaftshof to confirm
their arrival and to receive the keys for room and night-gate. You are kindly requested to arrive and depart during
the normal opening hours whenever
possible. If you need special arrangements, please contact the member of staff expecting
you well in advance.
The rooms are simple but comfortable, with bed, cupboard, writing-desk and chair(s), and
with central heating. Some have an Internet connection. They are
cleaned, and linen is changed once a week. Some are grouped in small units
sharing bathroom and cooking facilities. During working hours breakfast and
lunch can be provided in the nearby gardener's cafeteria upon agreement with the
cook.
From the Wirtschaftshof the Museum building can be reached via the garden or via the Zeune-Promenade
along the north-eastern fence,
within ten minutes on foot.
In case of emergency a night warden can be reached by ringing at the Fichtenberg gate for
the "Kesselhaus-Nachtdienst".
Telephone service is available at the door-keeper's lodge (Am Fichtenberg,
during opening hours) and outside in public phone boxes. A public
coin-phone inside the Garden is outside the Victoria-regia-house. The card-phone
nearest to the Museum is situated in the Koenigin-Luise-Strasse/corner Altensteinstrasse.
Most of the public phones are equipped for telephon cards which are available in post
offices.
