Information for visiting scientists
Working hours: The Museum is open for working visitors on Mo -Fri from 7.00 a.m.
to 6.00 p.m. The library is open for visitors Mo-Fri 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Special arrangements
to work outside these hours can be made upon request. The Garden opens daily, depending on
the duration of daylight. For opening hours see above.
Food and drinks: Inside the Museum building there is a small cafeteria with a
limited choice of refreshments and sweets available from vending-machines. Cafeterias with
more choice are in the nearby Pharmaceutical Institute and in the Biologische
Bundesanstalt. In the former, take-away sandwiches, hot drinks etc. and around noon a hot
meal are available (temporarily closed). The latter serves a selection of hot meals. In the
Gardener's cafeteria
at the Wirtschaftshof hot meals are served on weekdays from 12 a.m. to 1 p.m. In
summer, a restaurant opens in the Garden next to the Unter den
Eichen gate, and a café near the greenhouses. The student mensa of the Free University is
not far (Kiebitzweg) and provides a selection of good and healthy hot and cold dishes at
low prices. Those who are interested may join a small group of our staff which usually
leaves for lunch to either the gardener's cafeteria or one of the other cafeterias at
12.40
p.m.
